More streets of Austin!

I went to Austin this weekend...again! I went for the Tough Mudder event which happens to be fist pumpingly awesome! Pictures on that later if anyone is interested. Apart from the event, Austin has got some very interesting streets and plenty of restaurants to choose from. If you ever find yourself on Congress and 6th st. You will come upon or drive by Truluck's restaurant. The food? Absolutely delicious! It's mainly focused on delicious seafood. Although pricey, its still delicious!...You'll find apparently a food truck that has AMAZING pizza...according to America and Yahoo!..You will see high rises and food trucks. Just awesome. I love the different options, and I love driving down the streets of WeIrD AuStIN!!

Almost Late to Class!

Its 12:10 and I have class @ 1!! I have to wait three turns before I finally get to cross this light on Spring Cypress!!
If I arrive late class its because there is waaaaayyy too much construction going on on my side of town (Cypress). When I first moved to Cypress almost 9 yrs ago....The only thing there existed was a Walmart. Now, there are restaurants, shopping centers, an outlet mall, movie theater, etc. Right now, there is continued construction within right off of 290 and Spring Cypress to make the roads bigger. I know its because Cypress has been growing tremendously and not enough road space. I guess I can say I rep CY-PRRUUSS!!...but I also rep SPRING BRANCH!! :)

Houston...or Mexican Beaches??

So, right about now I am wishing I had the time and money to embark on a beautiful beach vacation! I took this picture on the side of 45 passing dowtown. It's ok...decent picture, but I guess what I am saying is that I much prefer a change of scenery. Don't get me wrong...I LOVE Houston. It's my hometown and always will be, but every now then I like a change of view. Perhaps going back to a view like...

this.....

Cancun

Chichen Itza

It can do wonders for my
stress. I LOVE the beach. I always think I want to go somewhere sophisticated and elegant for vacations like England or Paris or even Italy. Nevertheless, I always end up going with Mexico! It's another language I can understand, the food is amazing, and more importantly, the scenery is beautiful!. Granted, some areas definitely need to be kept in the dark from tourists and the roads are NOT like Houston AT ALL! but, it's still an amazing place to visit and to cool off during Houston's hot summer months! I personally love going to CANCUN. However, if you want to go to really good beaches I don't actually recommend Cancun. I recommend other little Islands around it like Playa del Carmen or Isla de las Mujeres. Cancun has sooo many places to visit you couldn't possibly visit everything in one week!

Austin SXSW

Change of scenery....the streets of Austin were crazy when I went last weekend. There were more people walking on roads than there were cars on the roads. For the very first time I walked on 6th St. and loved it! I happened to be there the weekend SXSW started, so the streets were extra packed. Another thing I noticed were FOOD TRUCKS.....EVERYWHERE!!..I almost think Austin has more food trucks downtown and around than Houston does. Austin also happens to be a very weird city. Just driving around I can see that it is completely different from the streets of Houston. However laid back and cool Austin is, its no HOUSTON!

Hey, Remember Rita?

Look at the worst traffic jams here

Boy......am I am SO glad I stayed out of that MESS!! Rita didn't even do ANY damage...all the damage that occurred was due to the whole evacuation process. There were plenty of people left without gas. I don't know how I would've faired in a situation like that. I probably would've gone to the "dark side" and just tried to beat down anyone that tried to cross my path. I look back on Rita...and I actually had VERY good memories. My entire family stayed with us and everyone laughed and ate and played games and fell asleep in the same house. Good times...good times...
Not so much for the unfortunate people in those pictures but..

The Waters Less Traveled...at the Woodlands

So I decided to take a break from the roads and paddle my way through water instead of fighting my way through traffic on the road. Everything so much more tranquil less infested with people and a lot more exercise driven! So while I don't have a paddle and am mostly taking pictures, my brother is the one doing most of the work, but I still managed to do a lot of kayaking and my brother managed to get a lot of glares at the sight of a woman doing all of the work while the man sat there and did nothing.
Nevertheless, along my water-filled travels we came across GINORMOUS houses! All unique and their own. and you can't help but wonder......

Apart from knowing that the owner of CHI (they are those hair straighteners that every woman seems to have except for me) owns that incredible house, I know of no one else that lives in that area. Nevertheless, I can't help but wonder "WHAT THE HECK DO THESE RICH PEOPLE DO FOR A LIVING??" and "HOW MANY KIDS DO THEY HAVE THAT THEY NEED SOOOO MUCH HOUSE!?" I mean REALLY?? I hope those people at least have every room used up because if they didn't then it would just be a huge waste of space!

Texas is Ruled by Trucks!

I've lived in Texas my whole life and there is nothing that says "I'm from Texas" like owning a Texas Edition truck...whether it's Ford, Toyota, Dodge, Nissan, etc..It seems that Texas really likes its trucks. So, no wonder I see more trucks than cars on the streets. However, I also wonder how much GAS the state of Texas uses up just on trucks! I mean CLEARLY seeing a lineup of trucks at an intersection without it being intentional is something that would really only happen in a state that loves Trucks like it loves being known for loving everything BIG.
